2017 is a year of big changes for the Group as well as the Shanghai plant in China.
OMP Shanghai, was founded in 2009, it has been the first plant of OMP Group opened outside of Italy. We came to China to assemble racks, and over the years we have added manufacturing capabilities in metal sheet (CNC milling, laser cutting, punching, stamping, bending), in testing (flying probe) and microwave filters (assembly, tuning). Today the Chinese plant is specular to the Italian one, offering full range of cost effective services including: design & engineering, precision sheet metal/fabrication, and a system of logistics; all of these processes are precisely coordinated by SAP ERP that controls hardware component procurement for electronic manufacturing services (EMS). We are an excellent metal fabricator, supporting NPI and high mix / low volume production.
OMP Mechtron Shanghai Co. Ltd products portfolio can serve different types of markets and sectors, this range goes from Telecom, to the packaging industry and the railway sector.
A particular focus can be established on the railway market, where a new customer; that is considered an international leader in the development and production of solutions that ensure the efficient and reliable functioning of electronic systems, is evaluating to use OMP’s products for some of their new projects. The products are related to signalling as well as to the rolling stock.
Related to the mentioned activities, during the Q2, the Chinese plant will start the technical development and the delivery of the first orders of cabinet, which are thoroughly integrated and tested. A new area of 700sqm was completly allocated for this project, as well as that, the technical department was implemented together with the introduction of personnel specialised in cabling activity.
All this investments can act as a springboard towards collaborations with a new range of customers that will enable us to diversify even more our commercial strategies.
The Q3 will be more focused on a further growth of the packaging industry, with which OMP Mechtron Shanghai is now starting to collaborate. The packaging industry today,is a niche market that is continuously growing and that OMP Shanghai will be supplying the best way they possible.
Daily hard work, dedicated investments in sales and production, can be all considered important steps to make OMP Mechtron Shanghai an autonomous company; able to supply products with the highest level of assembly, to reduce even more customers complexities, managing them internally.
